The Port of Miami, officially PortMiami, is the self-proclaimed "Cruise Capital of the World" and one of the busiest passenger ports on the planet. Situated on Dodge Island just off the Downtown Miami shoreline, it is the departure point for millions of cruise passengers each year heading to the Bahamas, Caribbean, and beyond. Even if you are not boarding a ship, watching the massive cruise liners come and go from the bayfront or the MacArthur Causeway is a spectacle in itself. The port is also a significant commercial gateway, and its presence is woven into Miami's identity as a global city.
