Snake Bight Trail

Share: f 𝕏
Snake Bight Trail is a straight, flat hiking path in Everglades National Park that leads through dense hardwood hammock and mangrove forest before opening onto a boardwalk overlooking Florida Bay. The trail's name refers to the bight — a curve in the bay — that marks the far end of the walk. The payoff for the hike is the boardwalk at the end, where roseate spoonbills, flamingos, and large flocks of shorebirds are sometimes seen feeding in the shallow bay waters. Mosquito pressure can be intense along this trail; effective repellent is essential. Early morning visits when the birds are most active are strongly recommended.
