Wynwood Walls is an open-air street-art museum and the beating heart of Miami's Wynwood arts district. Founded in 2009 by the late developer and visionary Tony Goldman, it transformed a cluster of windowless warehouses into colossal outdoor canvases. Goldman quietly bought up properties across the neighborhood and, during Art Basel 2009, unveiled the first murals to the world, sparking a creative renaissance that turned Wynwood into one of the planet's most celebrated street-art destinations.

Spanning more than 80,000 square feet of walls, the museum has hosted over 70 artists from more than 16 countries, including icons such as Shepard Fairey, Keith Haring and the Brazilian duo Os Gemeos. The murals rotate over time, so no two visits are ever quite the same. Beyond the walls themselves, the surrounding streets brim with galleries, boutiques, craft breweries and some of the city's best food, making it a full day of color and discovery.

Visitor tip: go in the morning or late afternoon to dodge the midday heat and get the best light for photos. Tickets are required for the gated courtyard, but the wider neighborhood is free to wander. Pair your visit with Wynwood's outdoor murals and cafes for the complete experience.
