Pinelands Trail

Share: f 𝕏
Pinelands Trail is a short walking loop in Everglades National Park that passes through one of the park's rarest habitats — the slash pine forest, also known as pinelands or pine rocklands. This habitat once covered much of South Florida but survives today mainly in protected areas like the Everglades and parts of the Florida Keys. The pine rocklands ecosystem has an open, park-like character quite different from the surrounding wetlands, and it supports dozens of plant species found nowhere else on earth. Walking Pinelands Trail reveals a subtle but fascinating botanical diversity, with saw palmetto, wild coffee, and a carpet of native wildflowers in season.
